Korsteel Cambridge Mouth Slotted Kimblewick – 5.5 inches
The Cambridge Mouth Kimblewick from Korsteel is stronger than a snaffle, as it has the added curb chain, to create the curb pressure. The Cambridge mouthpiece is a brilliant alternative to a thicker mullen mouth bit, as the small port and slim mouthpiece allows more room for the tongue. Its main action is on the tongue and the corners of the mouth – it is unlikely that this bit will have much pressure on the bars of the mouth, however this is dependant on the individual size of the horse’s tongue. The slots on this Kimblewick allows the rider to increase or decrease the amount of curb pressure applied but moving the reins either up or down the rings. The lower the reins are attached, the more curb pressure that is applied. There is minimal poll pressure, so this bit is brilliant for horses who do not respond well to bits that utilise poll pressure, such as a gag or a pelham….
