The tongue port bar has an especially flattened shape to the port. This gives the tongue optimum room. Many horses respond to this with improved suppleness and increased chewing. This bit is also very well suited to horses that play with their tongues, trying to get their tongue over the bit, as the port effectively prevents this. This mouthpiece is thus eminently suited to horses that do not tolerate traditionally shaped bits due to the pressure on the tongue and react by head-shaking and the like. The Kimblewick bit is an effective combination of a lever effect on the branches of the horseandlsquo;s lower jaw, pressure on the poll and change of position of the bit inside the horse”s mouth.
